Wethersfield (CT) Interfaith Green Committee

History

In July 2007, Corpus Christi invited other faith congregations to participate in a climate crisis initiative. We held two events in the fall of 2007. After these two events, the committee decided to have a three-pronged approach, which is:

To work with the town’s faith-based congregations to see if they can/will participate in the Savings Through Energy Management System, (STEM), a program designed to assist faith communities to be good stewards of the earth and to help them identify ways to save energy and dollars in faith community buildings. In May 2008, 6 faith-based congregations in Wethersfield completed the STEM program.

A presentation was made to the Wethersfield Town Council on 2/19/2008 with recommendations on going green. (See Town Council presentation under Information on this web site).

We worked with Matthew Forrest, Town Council member, and participated in the town wide "Energy Summit" in March 2008.

Our committee continues to grow and we now have members from six faith congregations in Wethersfield: Trinity Episcopal Church, Church of the Incarnation, Wethersfield United Methodist, Temple Beth Torah, First Church of Christ, and Corpus Christi.
